Advocacy Specialist for Maternal and Infant Health
This is a unique opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families by working as an Advocacy Specialist for Maternal and Infant Health.
As a member of our team, you will be responsible for advocating for Indigenous maternity care and providing support to expectant mothers in the Logan area.
Our comprehensive, culturally informed services are designed to improve maternal and infant health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality care that is tailored to the specific needs of our clients.
To succeed in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a deep understanding of the factors contributing to vulnerability, disengagement, and intergenerational trauma in the client group.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A current Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, social science, health, allied health, youth work, community services, family intervention or criminology
- 4 years' relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support or related field
- OR
- A current Diploma in community services, social work, human services, child and family, allied health, youth work, child and family intervention
- 5 years' relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support or related field
- AND
- At least 3 years of above mentioned experience in a case management role

Skills and Knowledge
To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Knowledge of and experience in working with child safety legislation and frameworks
- Ability to provide behaviour change interventions that build client self-awareness and active change in achieving their identified goals
- Ability to work with the whole-of-family, irrespective of primary client, in meeting the totality of family needs
- Experience with case management for high risk and/or crisis clients, with high-level planning and organisational skills
- Knowledge of the supports available to target clients in the areas of mental health, substance misuse, education, employment, and housing
- Current Blue Card
- Current Yellow Card (Disability Worker Screening)
- Current national police check
- Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld) and the ability to travel daily
