About this opportunity:

Our organization seeks a dedicated individual to play a vital role in supporting the development, planning and delivery of services to individuals with mental health needs.

**Key responsibilities:**

  • As a positive influence, you will provide information on your personal experience of managing mental health.
  • You will connect with individuals, carers and staff, offering a positive example of recovery and sharing your experience of managing mental health.
  • You will support and mentor colleagues.
  • You will utilize your skills and knowledge in consumer education, support and provide a responsive framework of psychoeducation that meets consumers' needs.

**Required skills and qualifications:**

  • A strong understanding of recovery principles and strength-based approach in working with individuals with mental health issues.
  • Well-developed communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • The ability to maintain professional boundaries.
  • Computer literacy.
  • The ability to advocate for consumers' perspective to identify service improvements.
  • The ability to plan, deliver and evaluate psychoeducation and groups for mental health service consumers.
  • The ability to share your lived experience of recovery to assist individuals and staff within your role.

**Essential requirements:**

  • Vaccination against certain vaccine-preventable diseases.
  • Personal lived experience of mental illness and recovery, and the ability to advocate for and support people experiencing mental illness.
  • Previous experience as a mental health service user and experience in a similar role.
