The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dementia centre initiative, supporting individuals living with dementia as they transition from hospital settings back to their homes or into residential care.
This role offers professional growth and exposure to a new project, making it an ideal fit for those seeking career advancement in the field of dementia care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply expertise in assessment and biopsychosocial approaches to implement practical strategies for preventing, minimising, or responding to changes in behaviour related to dementia.
- Support families, caregivers, and clinical staff to understand how dementia impacts individuals and their loved ones.
- Equip carers and clinicians with tools and resources to prevent and respond to behaviour changes through coaching, development, and modelling.
- Develop reports contextualised to individual situations and people, effecting change on the ground and improving quality of life for people living with dementia.
- Undertake assessments to understand the holistic experience of individuals and their care networks.
- Work in partnership with stakeholders to build capability across home and aged care sectors.
- Contribute to research, projects, and programs to meet the changing needs of the sector.
Requirements:
- Expertise in supporting people living with dementia.
- Experience in Australian residential aged care and/or community aged care.
- High level of negotiation, communication, and relationship building skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management.
- A current Australian drivers licence and willingness to travel.
- Empathy and patience.
- Relevant qualification in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care, or Mental Health is essential.
