About the Role

The Social Health Counsellor will be an integral part of our team, working towards comprehensive support services for clients and their families.

This role involves active participation in team activities, contributing to a positive workplace culture that promotes the values and ethos of ATSICHS Brisbane.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide evidence-based interventions using established techniques and methodologies.
  • Respond promptly to critical incidents, offering wellbeing first aid to patients.
  • Conduct thorough wellbeing assessments to identify client needs and guide treatment delivery plans.
  • Develop and implement group interventions to meet mental health consumers' needs.
  • Maintain high standards in accordance with case management and record-keeping processes.
  • Facilitate referrals and coordination between different sites or programs, ensuring seamless delivery of mental health and social services.
  • Nurture relationships with community organisations and government agencies for information sharing, referral, networking, and promoting ATSICHS Brisbane services.
  • Foster productive working relationships, promoting cooperation, trust, respect, and diversity, while guiding staff development.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor qualification in Psychology/Social Work/Human Services/Behavioural Science or Counselling.
  • Proven ability to apply clinical judgement and prepare accurate reports on client outcomes and mental health wellbeing interventions.
  • Able to work with diverse groups of clients, applying a culturally responsive framework to guide interventions, with support from staff and management.
  • Knowledge of scientifically-based mental health wellbeing treatment approaches for clients with identity issues, suicidal ideation/behaviour, self-harm, drug/alcohol abuse, trauma responses, and behavioural problems.
  • Ability to administer mental health wellbeing assessments.
  • Capacity to work independently and effectively communicate within multi-disciplinary teams, contributing to innovative mental health wellbeing programs.
  • Experience in overseeing and coordinating case management processes and procedures.
  • Will to travel across ATSICHS Brisbane's region of services and work across various sites.
  • Will to provide therapeutic supports outside clinic environments.
  • National Police Clearance.
