Job Summary


We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Head Japanese Chef to oversee our kitchen operations, develop menus, supervise staff, and maintain the highest standards of quality and hygiene.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead and manage kitchen operations, ensuring efficient service delivery and maintaining high standards of food quality and safety;
  • Develop and implement new menu ideas, taking into account seasonal ingredients and customer preferences;
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet their roles and responsibilities;
  • Discuss food preparation issues with the Restaurant Manager and work together to resolve any problems;
  • Ensure all food is prepared to a high standard, presented attractively, and meets special dietary requirements;
  • Cook food using various methods, including baking, braising, frying, roasting, or steaming;
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, following established recipes and presentation guidelines;
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations;
  • Store food in temperature-controlled facilities, receive and store supplies, and manage inventory levels;
  • Conduct regular kitchen inspections to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations;
  • Provide training and guidance to junior chefs and kitchen staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement;
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery and high customer satisfaction;


Requirements:



  • Demonstrated experience as a senior chef in a similar role within the food industry (minimum 3 years);
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Diploma of Hospitality with Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery;
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment;
  • Excellent cooking skills, knowledge of Japanese cuisine, and experience in developing unique recipes;
  • Possession of a valid Australian working visa or permanent residency;
  • A strong commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and customer satisfaction.


Working Conditions:


This full-time position offers a competitive salary package, including a base salary of $74,000 per annum, plus superannuation benefits.
