Senior Subcontract Specialist

Job Description:

This role involves drawing on previous experience to ensure effective market engagement and subcontract management on Defence programs, in partnership with the ADF and the Commonwealth.

  • Develop and manage commercial agreements including NDAs, development, manufacturing and support services contracts and contract variations.
  • Provide strategic advice to project managers and other business stakeholders on all subcontracting activities related to your program of work.
  • Liaise with Legal, Functional, Engineering and Commercial stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of projects.
  • Lead the development of procurement strategies and priorities, leveraging strong stakeholder relationships and understanding program requirements.
  • Conduct complex market engagement activities (RFx), analyze and evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate supplier deviations to subcontract provisions, and recommend final supplier selection.
  • Monitor and report subcontract cost, schedule, and status, recommending corrective action as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Global Trade Control specialists to ensure supplier activities are compliant with applicable regulatory trade control (export-import) requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5-8 years' experience in supplier management and/or sourcing with exposure to procurement contract terms and conditions.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of contract law.
  • Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management skills to drive outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in the Defence industry is desirable.
  • Tertiary Education in Commerce, Law, or Business, or relevant experience.
  • High-level competency in written and oral communication and standard business tools and systems.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and autonomously to see projects through to completion.
