Leading a medical services department requires strategic coordination and management. We seek an exceptional professional to join our team as Deputy Executive Director, driving excellence in patient care and healthcare outcomes.
About the Role:- Assist the Executive Director Medical Services (EDMS) in coordinating, administering, and evaluating agency-wide aspects of medical services.
- Ensure that recruitment, appointment, credentialing, and employment of junior medical staff align with legislative and Award provision.
- Oversee recruitment and workforce planning for junior medical staff, selection, and ongoing training requirements (Vocational and pre-vocational).
- Act as required in the position of EDMS and perform delegated tasks.
The Launceston General Hospital is a 450-bed teaching hospital providing emergency and acute care, specialist services, inpatient, and ambulatory care to Launceston and surrounding areas.
This major referral hospital for Tasmania's North and North-West works closely with the University of Tasmania and other universities to provide clinical practice experience for students within different areas of Medicine, Nursing & Midwifery, Allied Health, and Pharmacy.

As part of the Department of Health Tasmania, you will work closely with various hospitals across the state, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, Northwest Regional Hospital, and Mersey Community Hospital, as well as district hospitals and ambulance services.
Essential Criteria:- Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant speciality.
- Holds or is working towards Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA), or Associate Fellowship of RACMA (AFRACMA), or equivalent post-graduate health management qualification(s).
