The successful candidate will be responsible for leading research and analysis on various water management policy issues, providing recommendations on pathways to solve complex problems.

They will also coordinate and contribute to multidisciplinary work across different portfolios, leveraging their knowledge of other government departments and key stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes.

In addition, the Assistant Director will develop policy briefings, position papers, and reports on macro and micro policy issues, identifying risks and challenges to water reform implementation and developing innovative solutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional research, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an excellent grasp of the Murray-Darling Basin water reform strategic landscape.

They will have a strong understanding of policy knowledge, strategic thinking skills, and influence to develop and deliver projects on cross-cutting issues that impact the MDBA's work.

Additionally, the Assistant Director may have a staff supervision role, requiring strong leadership and management abilities.
