Community Support Specialist

The Community Support Specialist will be the heartbeat of the community, working with people with disability and their families to access and navigate support services. The role involves connecting with people from all walks of life, supporting them in developing individualised plans that cater to their strengths, skills, and interests.

About the Role

  • Supporting participants in identifying their goals and aspirations, and guiding them to create plans that meet these objectives.
  • Providing information and advice to participants and their representatives on available support options.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to build and maintain positive relationships and partnerships within the community.
  • Guiding and assisting people with disability to build capacity and explore options for self-direction and self-advocacy.
  • Building and maintaining knowledge of community resources and service providers to refer participants accordingly.

About You

  • You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and liaise across different levels and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks, and display personal drive and integrity.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualification or experience in a related field, such as psychology, social work, or allied health.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting planning conversations with participants to identify their needs and develop tailored support plans.
  • Proven experience in providing information and advice to participants and their representatives on disability-related matters.
