Health Information Specialist

This role is a blend of auditing and educational responsibilities, ensuring compliance with complex regulations and impacting patient care and reimbursement.

  • Review clinical codes for accuracy and compliance.
  • Identify and correct coding errors.
  • Create and deliver training sessions on coding standards and best practices.

The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to maintain the quality of coded data. They will work collaboratively with coding managers, coding teams, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals.

They will ensure that accurate and compliant coding practices are followed, which is essential for maintaining high-quality patient data and facilitating effective care delivery.

This role requires:

  • A degree or associate diploma in medical records administration or health information management, or an equivalent qualification and/or experience.
  • Proven coding experience with detailed knowledge of The International Statistical Classification of Diseases And Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with excellent report writing and data presentation skills.
