About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Urban Planner to lead our City Planning team in the delivery of a best practice local planning scheme and local planning policies.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership to ensure the successful implementation of our planning initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of planning legislation and processes, as well as experience in leading teams and mentoring staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation, monitoring, and review of best practice local planning schemes and local planning policies;
  • Provide specialist advice to senior management on Federal and State Government initiatives, policies, and opportunities;
  • Maintain compliant work practices in accordance with relevant legislation, recordkeeping frameworks, and Council policies and procedures;
  • Supervise staff, set performance objectives, and provide coaching and mentoring;
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in town planning or an equivalent;
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in implementing planning legislation and processes;
  • Extensive experience in leading people and teams, and mentoring staff;
  • Significant experience in delivering local planning schemes and local planning policies in established urban areas;
