We are seeking a skilled Public Spaces Inspection Specialist to join our team on a temporary contract assignment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the inspection and maintenance of public spaces, including footpaths and nature strips.

This is an initial 3-month temporary contract assignment with opportunity to extend for up to 9 months.

  • Assess and record defects in Council's footpath and kerb assets.
  • Inspect, measure and mark areas requiring maintenance works.
  • Report progress and value of allocated works each fortnight.
  • Allocate works to contractors in the field and monitor progress and compliance as required.
  • Obtain purchase orders for goods and services and approve contractor payments within authorisation.
  • Arrange for issue of purchase orders and approve payments less than $5,000.
  • Recommend contractor payments to the Coordinator for approval.
  • Complete inspections and requests accurately within relevant deadlines.

Requirements include:

  • A solid understanding of local government policies and procedures.
  • Experience working within Victorian Local Government in a relevant field.
  • Strong customer service skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Skills in managing time, setting priorities and planning and organising own work.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities and complete tasks within tight timeframes.
  • Computer literate with thorough understanding of relevant software systems.
  • Several years related work experience in footpath inspection and maintenance.
  • Technical knowledge and qualifications preferred.
  • OHS knowledge and traffic management qualifications necessary to work safely.
