About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Horticulture Tradesperson to join our team at Melbourne and Olympic Parks. As a key member of our Horticulture and Sports Turf team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality horticulture and sports turf services to our venues and precincts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the presentation of our precincts' open spaces, ensuring they meet the highest standards.
  • Prepare and plan annual site maintenance programs, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Participate in operational planning to ensure site readiness and presentation standards.
  • Deliver exceptional sports turf management across all venue playing surfaces.
  • Manage service providers to ensure best practices are maintained and continuously improved.
  • Ensure safety is paramount, implementing and improving OHS requirements.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Work closely with our horticulture and sports turf experts to achieve outstanding outcomes.
  • Collaborate with a high-performing team to manage tasks and deliver results.
  • Provide direction and support to direct reports, ensuring business plans are executed.
  • Develop and implement achievement and development plans for team members.
  • Contribute to departmental budgetary processes, including planning and forecasting.

Strategic Planning

  • Support the development of a long-term strategy for Horticulture and Sports Turf management.
  • Contribute to M&OP's strategic planning, ensuring the business delivers on its purpose and commitments.
  • Review and provide recommendations for workforce planning to ensure future capability and resources.

Requirements

  • Certificate 3 in Horticulture (Parks and Gardens and/or turf management).
  • At least 5 years' experience in the Horticulture industry.

Key Relationships

  • Reporting to Horticulture & Sports Grounds Coordinators.
  • All relevant tenants, stakeholders, and venue hirers.
  • All MOPT external contractors.
