Landscape and Horticulture Technician Certificate Program

Are you passionate about working in the green industry and seeking a rewarding career? Eastern Florida State College's Landscape and Horticulture Technician College Credit Certificate (CCC) program is designed to equip you with the technical skills, scientific knowledge, and industry expertise necessary for success in this field.

In a rapidly growing industry, there's a high demand for professionals with horticulture-related training. This program will prepare you for a career in specialized areas of horticulture and landscaping, with a focus on plant physiology, nutrition, classification, pest control, pruning, maintenance, equipment, and employability skills.

Our program faculty have valuable expertise in the green industry, bringing diverse professional experiences to the classroom. They incorporate their knowledge into the courses, ensuring you receive a comprehensive education.

Upon completion of the program, you'll have the opportunity to pursue various career paths, including greenhouse grower, hydroponic farmer, landscape designer, landscape technician, irrigation specialist, fruit and vegetable producer, nursery manager, turf specialist, florist, integrated pest management technician, gardener in botanical gardens or estates, or an interiorscape specialist.

Program Highlights
  • 30-credit-hour program with a specialization in either horticulture or landscaping
  • Hands-on skills practice through a hydroponics class at EFSC's Titusville Campus greenhouse
  • Coursework in beekeeping at the local Rockledge Gardens greenhouse through an agreement with the college
  • Opportunity to obtain a Florida fertilizer applicator license and Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) certification
Admissions Information

To apply for this program, follow EFSC's regular enrollment process. As a certificate program, this CCC does not require placement testing or general education courses, making it a great option for students who want the skills but do not want the extra coursework that is part of a degree program.

Meet certain requirements, including being able to lift 25 pounds, understanding labels related to horticulture chemicals, recognizing color codes, comfortably accessing plants and soil, proficiently using various horticulture tools, and being able to work outdoors in different weather conditions for extended periods of time.

Costs and Financial Aid Eligibility

The cost of this certificate program is approximately $3,120, which covers in-state tuition and fees. However, please note that there may be additional expenses for course materials and lab fees.
