Flexible Science Presenter

Mad About Science In Schools is seeking a science communicator or qualified teacher for casual science presentations to primary school students and other audiences. This unique role offers flexible hours, the opportunity to meet new people, and inspire a new generation of scientists.

As a presenter, you will conduct quality curriculum-aligned science workshops throughout Brisbane and QLD. Topics covered include chemical, physical, biological, STEM, and earth and space sciences. We provide training and all necessary materials to bring science to life and engage students.

This role is sessional and offered on a casual basis up to 3 or 4 days a week during peak periods. It is ideal for current CRT or part-time teachers looking for more work with a flexible schedule. Or for those combining study and home commitments with work.

To succeed in this role, you must be organised, friendly, and enthusiastic. You should relate well to children of all ages, have well-developed verbal communication skills, and a strong interest in science. Availability to work on weekends and during school term breaks is an advantage.

Required Skills:

  • Highly developed verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate scientific concepts in an articulate and engaging manner
  • Prepared and able to travel throughout QLD and regions
  • Access to a vehicle
  • Primary teacher experience or qualification (not essential)
  • Strong interest in science and/or a science degree
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Friendly, flexible, and personable demeanour
