Security Officer Role

The Security Officer plays a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of our hospital facility and grounds. This position is responsible for patrolling assigned areas, enforcing hospital policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with local and state laws.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrols assigned areas of the hospital facility and grounds to maintain a safe and orderly environment
  • Enforces hospital policies and procedures, as well as applicable local and state laws
  • Maintains active certification in firearms and conducted electrical weapon use
  • Communicates effectively with visitors, staff, patients, and law enforcement representatives
  • Handles incidents in a confidential manner, displaying compassion and empathy
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Successful completion of OPOTA Private Security academy and/or 20 hour private security firearms certification or OPOTA Basic Police Academy required
  • Must be 21 years of age or older at time of hire
  • Must maintain active certification in firearms and conducted electrical weapon use
  • Ability to perform functions requiring running, walking, physical restraint of others
  • Exposure to inclement weather
