Job Description

We are seeking a Horticulture Apprentice to join our team in the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan. As a Horticulture Apprentice, you will assist in the development and maintenance of horticultural collections and displays in ground and within controlled environments.

You will be trained to perform tasks such as pest and disease control, soil preparation, pruning, irrigation, plant nutrition, weeding, mowing, edging, bush regeneration, tree care and maintenance, record keeping, curation of collections, and the use and maintenance of associated plant and equipment.

Requirements
  • Demonstrated passion or experience in tending a garden, growing plants (domestic, commercial or culturally), garden construction or similar
  • An understanding of Work Health and Safety policies and practices
  • Nsw School Certificate or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake formal study of horticulture
  • Ability to undertake fieldwork, if required, for extended periods (outside of normal working hours and on weekends if required)
