
A Peer Support Specialist Role Supporting Individuals in Mental Health Recovery

Job Title: Peer Support Worker
This role offers a unique opportunity to use your lived experience of mental ill-health and recovery to support individuals facing similar challenges.
You will help participants develop life skills, regain independence, and integrate into their communities by acting as a role model of hope and recovery.
The successful candidate will provide practical support in areas like self-care, budgeting, and accessing health services, while also assisting participants with housing and building social connections.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing emotional support and guidance to individuals with mental health issues
- Assisting with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and medication management
- Helping participants access healthcare services and connect with community resources
- Working closely with families, carers, and other professionals to ensure coordinated support

Requirements- Lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery, either as a person with mental health issues or in a caring role
- A contemporary understanding of mental health issues and recovery-oriented mental health practice
- Completion of relevant qualifications or equivalent practical experience working in a lived experience role
- Rights to work in Australia and a current driver's license
- National Police Records Check (less than 12 months old)
- NDIS Workers Screening Check and Working with Children Check
