Job Title: Pre-Admission Nurse

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with healthcare professionals, patients, and families to collect patient histories and provide education, support, and guidance for pre- and post-operative care.
  • Practice appropriate telephone and patient triage, perform preadmission patient screening via phone/email, communicate clinical information to relevant team members, and ensure pre-op requirements are met using the nursing process.
  • Educate patients in line with organisational protocols, assess health history, plan, implement, and evaluate care, promote safety by addressing physical and psychological needs, respond to email/phone inquiries from patients, conduct outbound follow-up calls as needed, and escalate concerns or special requirements to anaesthetists or clinical staff.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse DIV. 1 qualification.
  • Annual BLS competency.
  • Valid National Police Check.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between sites.
  • Reliable car and driver licence.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in an administrative nursing role.
  • Experience in Day Surgery nursing.
  • Acute care experience demonstrating clinical competence in nursing practice.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail orientation with exceptional organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent computer literacy including proficiency with electronic medical records.
