Cost Estimation Specialist Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of robust, end-to-end program and project cost estimates from Rough Order of Magnitude through to Tender Quality.

  • Partner with ICT program and project managers to ensure costings underpin sound business cases, strategic decision-making, and value-for-money outcomes.
About Our Team

The Defence Digital Group operates to generate and sustain digital capabilities and effects in order to defend Australia and its national interests.

We are seeking a high-performing professional who can combine technical costing expertise with strong project management and leadership skills. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • A proven track record of leading costing activities for business cases and large projects in complex organisations.
  • Expert knowledge and hands-on experience in project cost estimation methodologies, tools, and models, ideally applied to ICT transformation or large-scale Defence projects.

This role involves working alongside other Chapter Leads in the Program Management Office Branch to deliver capability within the Military and Enterprise Systems Divisions.

The ideal candidate will have a collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to building a new, high-performing professional chapter in cost estimation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the establishment and professionalisation of cost estimation practices across Defence Digital Group.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of leading costing activities for business cases and large projects.
  • Expert knowledge and hands-on experience in project cost estimation methodologies, tools, and models.
