Job Details:

The Mental Health Nurse provides specialised support to clients and their families requiring mental health care and to the remote based staff providing care. The position promotes excellence in clinical standards and quality of care and works closely with the broader healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Provide culturally safe mental health care for people of all ages in a designated region through direct contact with clients and families or by providing advice to other members of the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrate a high standard of professional practice and clinical knowledge that incorporates current best practice, education, and research.
  • Undertake thorough mental health assessments, risk assessment, emergency support, treatment, and case management services, and a range of therapeutic interventions to support people and their carers affected by mental health conditions.
  • Actively promote mental health awareness and engage in primary prevention activities (e.g., health promotion) in partnership with relevant agencies, community organisations, key stakeholders, consumers, and carers.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in accordance with established information systems and protocols.
