About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Officer to join our team at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas). As a key member of our Waste Levy and Data section, you will play a critical role in the implementation and regulation of the landfill levy and waste data collection in Tasmania.

As an Operations Officer, you will work closely with a range of waste facility operators to ensure their compliance with waste and resource recovery regulatory requirements and legislation. You will also contribute to the development of an improved waste data collection system, which will help us to better understand and manage waste in Tasmania.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the application of legal requirements through site inspections, audits, and office-based tasks.
  • Work with waste facility operators to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and legislation.
  • Contribute to the development of an improved waste data collection system.
