Lead Bioinformatics Position

This position will oversee the development of bioinformatics pipelines and lead service offerings that align with PSBA's objectives.

The role will be responsible for managing projects, delivering outcomes, and collaborating with a team to improve methodologies.

A key focus will be on translating complex data into actionable insights, interacting with customers, and ensuring service offerings meet their requirements. Additionally, this role will involve implementing and streamlining organisational processes to enhance efficiency and staff adoption.

About the Role

As a leader in bioinformatics services, you will be expected to design and oversee projects, develop new service offerings, and improve existing ones. This includes collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders and providing technical services.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and overseeing bioinformatics pipelines
  • Developing new service offerings
  • Improving methodologies in collaboration with the team
  • Translating complex data into actionable insights
  • Interacting with customers to ensure service offerings meet their requirements

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Master of Bioinformatics or similar qualification in biological sciences
  • Experience in High Performance Computing environments
  • Fluency in programming languages such as R, Python, Perl, etc.
  • Evidence of high-quality publications including bioinformatics analyses
  • Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership experience to improve performance and maintain an outcome-based focus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Experience in metabolic pathway modelling, sgRNA design, and/or machine learning beneficial
