Bioinformatics Lead

This is a senior leadership position that oversees the University's bioinformatics services and activities, ensuring projects are managed effectively and outcomes are aligned with the institution's service offerings.

• Pipeline Design and Management
  • Design and oversee bioinformatics pipelines to develop new service offerings and improve methodologies in collaboration with the team.
• Data Analysis and Insights
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights and interact with customers to ensure service offerings meet requirements.
• Facility Operations
  • Liaise with staff to ensure facilities run efficiently and promote a community of practice for facility operations.

• Education
  • Master of Bioinformatics or similar qualification in biological sciences, or progressing towards a higher qualification.
• Technical Skills
  • Experience in High Performance Computing environments and fluency in programming languages such as R, Python, Perl, etc.
• Research Experience
  • Evidence of high-quality publications including bioinformatics analyses like genomics, transcriptomics, and protein structural modelling.
• Leadership and Communication
  • Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders through technical services provision.
• Project Management
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

The Bioinformatics Lead will be part of a network of national facilities providing plant synthetic biology infrastructure and expertise to drive agricultural productivity gains and develop environmentally sustainable bio-manufacturing products.
