Parks and Open Space Planner Role Summary

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Parks and Open Space Planner to play a pivotal role in shaping the environment, health, and wellbeing of our community through evidence-based planning and site recommendations for parks and open spaces.

  1. Lead community engagement, planning, development, and master planning of parks and open spaces.
  2. Prepare park plans of management and masterplans for parks, ensuring equitable allocation of recreation and sporting opportunities.
  3. Conduct high levels of community engagement in the development of plans and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

This role requires a good understanding of community recreation needs and long-term strategies for improving recreation and open space provision. As part of the team, you will work collaboratively to meet targets and commitments against individual and teamwork plans, as well as operational and strategic plans.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing park management plans that align with community goals and objectives.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to develop and implement open space initiatives.
  • Assessing and evaluating development applications related to open space provision.
