In the Water and Sewer division, you will oversee safe, proactive, and reactive maintenance and risk management of mechanical assets and essential infrastructure across various sites, including treatment facilities and residential areas.

The ideal candidate will possess trade qualifications and experience with process equipment, preferably in the Water and Sewer industry. You should be capable of working independently in a dynamic environment, seeking the most effective methods for maintaining and repairing mechanical assets, and demonstrating initiative when necessary.

Participation in a rotating on-call roster is required, and some weekend work may be necessary, with applicable penalty rates.

This role is essential for delivering quality customer service and adding value to the community.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct scheduled maintenance and reactive repairs on mechanical process equipment in the field, at treatment facilities, and across Council locations as needed to ensure assets achieve their designed operational lifespan. Disassemble and assess the condition of all mechanical assets as directed (including pump units), ensuring maintenance tasks are performed according to work requirements, measurements, and reporting recommended actions to the Team Leader or Engineer with appropriate documentation. Investigate and troubleshoot mechanical assets, applying engineering solutions in collaboration with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documentation, Engineers, and Team Leaders, and communicate when assistance is needed.

Essential Qualifications:

Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent (Fitting/Machining), along with ongoing professional development. Valid Construction General Induction card - NSW WorkCover or equivalent OR willingness to obtain prior to starting. Current Class MR Drivers Licence. Proven experience in a similar mechanical workshop setting, with hands-on experience using manual lathes, radial drills, and universal mills. Demonstrated ability to interpret OEM manuals and schematics. Experience in pump repair and assembly. Ability to complete tasks and meet project deadlines with minimal supervision. Strong customer service orientation and a demonstrated customer-centric approach to service delivery. Proven ability to communicate effectively and exchange information both verbally and in writing with colleagues and other stakeholders.

This position offers a salary range of $1,333.80 to $1,600.18 per week ($69.5k to $83.4k per annum) plus a weekly allowance and Superannuation.

A 9-day fortnight work cycle currently applies to this role.

Successful candidates will be required to complete a vaccination course against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.

Shortlisted candidates will need to undergo and pass a Confined Spaces medical assessment.
