About the Role

The Development Compliance Officer provides effective and efficient delivery of Council's compliance functions and specialist building code and building related legislative advice to internal and external customers.

This role involves providing professional building compliance services by undertaking development inspections in the CBD and North Adelaide, undertaking detailed high-quality inspections of existing buildings and buildings under construction in accordance with the current City of Adelaide Building Inspection Policy, and assisting in public awareness of the development process and the associated legislative requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated ability to assess and analyse building compliance matters and determine solutions in an effective and timely manner, high level of written and oral communication with report writing skills desirable, ability to work in an open, collaborative project-based environment and communicate and assist people to manage work and resources across a range of projects/tasks, high professional ethics and a commitment to internal and external customers demonstrated through the provision of timely, reliable, and expert advice on development compliance matters, and demonstrated ability to build positive relationships to consult, negotiate and communicate with all staff, government agencies, stakeholders and the community, both verbally and in writing.
