Postdoctoral Research Fellow

We are seeking an exceptional researcher to join our academic community as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

The role is primarily based at the School of Project Management, but will work closely with interdisciplinary teams across the Management and Organisation Sciences, Social Sciences, Urban Studies, Engineering, and Computer Science to advance research on climate change and global grand challenges.

You will be supervised by Associate Professor Nader Naderpajouh, and will contribute to the development of ideas in the further establishment of this research stream through their research, proposal development, and writing academic articles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with interdisciplinary scholars, government agencies, and private businesses to advance knowledge in disaster management and resilience.
  • Develop collaborative research proposals and research plans that address complex grand challenges.
  • Conduct high-quality research, including research design, ethics approval, data collection, analysis, reporting, and presentation of results.
  • Write academic papers, industry reports, research communication articles, and develop and deliver research outputs and tools.
  • Present results and research translation to various stakeholders.
  • Coordinate research teams and manage research projects within established timelines.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A PhD in a relevant field such as Management, Organization Studies, Urban Studies, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Computer Sciences, or Engineering, with a strong track record in research on disaster management, extreme contexts, and resilience.
  • The ability to work with industry partners in written and verbal forms and sustain relationships with them and engage them in research.
  • Capabilities in working both independently and as part of a team of researchers, to identify opportunities, and to contribute and lead to the development of papers for publication.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills and the ability to conduct high-quality research with increasing independence and to present that work in an engaging way.
  • A willingness to cross-collaborate with other researchers in an engaged interdisciplinary environment required in the face of challenges such as those induced by climate crisis.
  • Experience in a research environment, with publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals, and proficiency in a broad range of qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis methods.
  • An understanding of multidisciplinary research, and a strong disciplinary track record on disciplines mentioned in the post.
  • The ability to coordinate teams and manage research projects within established timelines.
