About the Team

Our dynamic Tax Advisory practice is a team of legislative experts covering the complete tax spectrum. We focus on clients in the middle-market, engaging with business owners and key stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.

The State Taxes Team

We operate as a cohesive group within the broader Tax Advisory practice. We believe our one-firm approach achieves the best outcomes for clients, encouraging collaboration across practice teams to find solutions.

About the Role

As a Senior Manager or Client Director in the State Taxes team, you will provide technical and commercially focused advice to a diverse range of clients across Australia, predominantly centered on stamp duty, land tax, and windfall gains tax.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing technically accurate, commercially focused, and tailored advice and solutions to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Preparing private ruling applications, objections correspondence, lodgements, and relief applications
  • Handling investigations and other compliance activities undertaken by various revenue offices and dealing with disputes with revenue offices
  • Building and managing client relationships and collaborating with internal stakeholders
  • Active involvement with the delivery of internal and external training and business development initiatives

Requirements

We're looking for individuals with:

  • A law and/or accounting degree, with experience in state taxes or a different area requiring interpretation of legislation
  • Commercial focus, strategic thinking, and the ability to work autonomously or collaboratively in a team
  • Strong legislative interpretation skills and the ability to craft well-written, accurate, and practical pieces of advice
