Casual Food Preparation Role

This role combines sandwich making and kitchen support responsibilities, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced food environment and enjoys variety in their daily tasks.

You'll be crafting an array of fresh sandwiches while also supporting broader kitchen operations - ensuring cleanliness, order and efficiency in the back-of-house.

  • Flexibility required - available for morning shifts (starting at 6am) and afternoon shifts (starting at 3pm)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and assemble sandwiches, wraps, salads and other grab-and-go items to a high standard of quality, presentation and hygiene
  • Ensure the freshness of ingredients and follow portion control and food safety guidelines
  • Maintain consistent cleanliness and hygiene across all food preparation and kitchen areas
  • Perform temperature checks and manage cross-contamination in line with WHS and Food Safety standards

Support chefs with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, portioning ingredients, and preparing items ahead of service.

  • Assist with general kitchen operations including dishwashing, sanitising equipment and cleaning workstations
  • Take ownership of cleaning duties including floors, dishes, equipment and waste management, using commercial dishwashers and cleaning chemicals safely
  • Handle stock rotation, unpack deliveries and keep kitchen supplies well maintained
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service during peak periods

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a sandwich making or kitchen support role is preferred
  • Food Safety Certificate
  • Passion and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced food environment
  • Flexible availability across a 7-day roster, with the majority of shifts starting early in the morning
