Nurse Unit Manager

About the Role
The primary objective of the Associate Nurse Unit Manager is to provide leadership and direction to the clinical and non-clinical team members within the unit to achieve a high standard of clinical and professional care. On a shift-by-shift basis, the Associate Nurse Unit Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of processes and procedures, effective and efficient admission and discharge planning, management of appropriate staffing levels, performance management and team member compliance with education and competency requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Manage and coordinate the work of clinical and non-clinical team members to achieve efficient and effective patient care.
- Conduct performance management and provide coaching and development opportunities to team members.
- Ensure compliance with education and competency requirements for team members.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to achieve shared goals and objectives.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse/Midwife with current AHPRA registration.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement and person-centred care.
- Proficiency in the use of information technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Clinical skills relevant to acute care.
- Postgraduate/Certificate qualifications.
This role is classified as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (YW11 – YW12) and is paid in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement.
