Job Title: Domestic Violence Specialist

  •     Work as a Domestic Violence Specialist, collaborating with victim survivors to support them in overcoming domestic and family violence.

  •     Deliver high-quality services, including intake assessments, counseling, court support, and group work, tailored to the needs of each client.

  •     Support clients in achieving their goals and increasing their safety, agency, and autonomy through empowerment and trauma-informed care.

  •     Advocate on behalf of clients, making referrals and assessing eligibility for practical assistance and safety upgrades.

  •     Collaborate with local stakeholders, such as police, child safety, corrections, and housing, to ensure comprehensive support for clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  •     Client Intake Assessments: Conduct initial risk assessments and develop safety plans for clients.

  •     Domestic Violence Counseling: Provide individual and group counseling sessions to support clients in overcoming domestic and family violence.

  •     Court Support: Assist clients attending court proceedings related to domestic and family violence matters.

  •     Risk Management: Identify and manage risks associated with domestic and family violence, ensuring the safety of clients and staff.

  •     Referral Pathways: Make suitable referrals for clients, ensuring they receive necessary support and services.

Requirements:
  •     Tertiary Qualifications: A degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is required.

  •     Eligibility: Membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), or the Australian Community Workers Association (ACA) is mandatory.

  •     Working with Children Check: A current QLD Working with Children Check is required.

  •     Australian Work Rights: Evidence of Australian work rights is necessary.

  •     Police Check: A current Police Check within the last three months is required.
