About the Role

Be Recruitment is partnering with a leading not-for-profit organization to find an experienced Therapeutic Specialist for a challenging opportunity in the Wagga region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Therapeutic Expertise: Assess children and young people's therapeutic needs and develop evidence-based care plans that address their trauma.
  • Support and Guidance: Facilitate team meetings and reflective practice sessions for carers, staff, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Child-Centred Approach: Ensure therapeutic interventions include children's voices, promote resilience, and support their healing from trauma.
  • Training and Education: Provide psychoeducation and parenting interventions to carers and staff.
  • Culturally Inclusive Practice: Collaborate with Aboriginal families, Elders, and service providers to deliver culturally safe care.
  • Collaboration: Build partnerships with government agencies, referral services, and community organizations for holistic support.

Essential Requirements
  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing, or a related discipline (Postgraduate qualifications preferred).
  • Experience: Clinical, mental health, or therapeutic care experience working with children and young people in Out-of-Home Care.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills; expertise in developing therapeutic alliances and facilitating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge: Trauma-informed practices, attachment-based interventions, child development, and systems theory.
  • Cultural Awareness: Understanding of Aboriginal culture, intergenerational trauma, and culturally safe practices.
  • Compliance: Current Australian driver's license, professional registration, and ability to travel occasionally for training and therapeutic activities.
Desirable Attributes
  • Experience: Therapeutic care settings or implementing the Sanctuary Model.
  • Training: Child, adolescent, and family therapeutic practice or mental health clinical practice.
  • Attachment-Based Interventions: Providing attachment-based and family interventions.
