Conservation and environmental management is a vital role in NSW’s natural environment.

This position involves supervising field officers and contractors, implementing works and maintenance programs, and contributing to the conservation of the state's environment, flora, fauna, and Aboriginal heritage.

About the Role

You will be responsible for leading teams to maintain and construct park facilities, protect cultural sites, undertake pest and weed control programs, and assist with fire management activities such as mowing, slashing, grading, hazard reduction burns, and wildfire response.

You will work closely with a Team Leader to achieve these objectives, using your practical knowledge and decision-making skills to solve problems effectively.

Your enthusiasm and motivation to work collaboratively will enable you to thrive and succeed in this diverse, fast-paced role.

About You
  • Ability to work within statutory obligations related to conservation of natural, Aboriginal and cultural heritage and resources.
  • Demonstrated experience in facility maintenance/construction and grounds upkeep.
  • Ability to supervise and carry out all duties safely according to WH&S requirements.
  • Capacity to implement planned field and operational activities (including pest animal and plant control).
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in fire management.
  • Demonstrated administrative and organisational skills and capacity for working with various software applications.
  • Relevant WorkCover Certification and ability/experience for operating machinery, plant and equipment.
  • Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent, MR Drivers Licence and ability to drive 4wd vehicles, Senior First Aid Certificate, and demonstrated ability/experience in operating MR vehicles.
