About the Role

Rio Tinto is seeking a highly skilled Power Controller to join our Power Supply team on a day and night lifestyle roster. As a Power Controller, you will be responsible for the maintenance and continuous improvement of high voltage assets, infrastructure, and distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance and continuous improvement of high voltage assets, infrastructure, and distribution systems.
  • Understand high voltage and maintenance procedures and work practices and maintain consistent application of standards.
  • Identify root causes of breakdowns and implement solutions to eliminate them.
  • Operate the high voltage assets to ensure a continuity of electrical supply to our operations.
  • Prepare, check, and participate in high voltage switching procedures.
  • Liaise with external power providers.
  • Lead teams as required to complete specific tasks or projects.
  • Ability to work effectively both within a team and independently.

Requirements

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset.
  • Valid C Class driver's license.
  • An Australian 'A' grade Electrical license.
  • A High Voltage Isolation and Access (HVIA) certificate is desirable.
  • Relevant experience in an Aluminum Smelter and/or heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong ability to clearly communicate with team members and stakeholders.
  • A willingness to learn and enthusiasm to develop new skills as required.
  • Good computer skills, including the use of SAP, would be desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • High Voltage experience or exposure up to 275kV equipment.
  • Familiarity with Honeywell Experion Control Systems.
