About the Business Function:

The Department of Justice and Community Safety delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.

The Assurance function manages corporate policies for the department and its Ministers to ensure strong governance and service delivery. It is responsible for risk management, crisis and continuity management, internal and external audit, information and records management, archive and mail services, management of the departments electronic document and electronic briefing and correspondence systems, information privacy, information security, compliance and committee operations.

About the Position:

The FOI Leadership Team Member provides strategic support for FOI officers responding to FOI requests. They are accountable for ensuring FOI requests are completed within statutory timeframes and for the department providing high-quality and consistent FOI decisions, in accordance with the requirements of the FOI Act.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree in Administrative Law would be highly regarded.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team and provide guidance on complex matters.
  • Sound knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act and related legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
