The Residential Support Worker role involves providing quality support and services to individuals with mental illness who reside in supported accommodation.
This includes delivering client-focused, community-oriented, and sensitive support that helps clients maintain key organisational and personal relationships facilitating independent living.
As a Residential Support Worker, you will assist clients in improving daily living skills, practicing personal hygiene, and adopting healthy living habits.
You will also mentor clients in building productive relationships and employing effective conflict resolution strategies.
Responsibilities- Provide individualized support to clients in their daily lives
- Assist clients in maintaining independence through developing daily living skills
- Collaborate with clients to establish and achieve goals related to mental health recovery
- Develop and implement personalized support plans tailored to each client's unique needs and circumstances
- Engage with families, carers, government agencies, and community services to ensure comprehensive support for clients
- Minimum Cert IV in Mental Health or Community Services related discipline (ideally completed diploma or Bachelors)
- Effective listening, empathy, and communication skills
- Experience working with individuals experiencing mental illness
- Ability to remain calm and composed when dealing with distressed individuals
- Understanding of duty of care principles, rights to privacy, and confidentiality
- Capacity to help program participants connect with relevant community resources and promote their rights, responsibilities, and recovery
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Competence with Microsoft Office applications
- Must be available for overnight shifts and rotating 24/7 rosters
- Must hold current WWVP and NDIS worker screening clearance
- Current driver's license
