We are seeking a skilled professional to provide fire weather intelligence and deliver an options paper that will guide the selection of the most effective fire weather intelligence platform.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in fire service or land use planning sector, with a proven track record of synthesising complex technical information into requirements specifications.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on fire weather intelligence, analysing Victoria's current and future fire weather intelligence needs, covering seasonal outlooks, readiness, response, and planned burns.

You will develop clear, authoritative recommendations that will directly inform decisions on the best technology to enhance predictive services and strengthen capability to protect communities and manage fire across the state.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and synthesise complex fire weather and intelligence system requirements
  • Provide expert advice to review fire behaviour systems for Victorian fire and land management agencies
  • Lead stakeholder engagement to capture and validate business requirements
  • Ensure documentation reflects user needs, quality standards and long-term outcomes
  • Develop an evaluation framework to compare system options against sector requirements
  • Conduct a market scan and provide a shortlist of suitable technologies
  • Produce an options analysis and recommendations report
  • Manage risks and issues through structured monitoring and escalation

About You:

  • Extensive fire service or land use planning sector experience in a senior business analyst role
  • Proven experience in synthesising complex technical information into requirements specifications, providing guidance and advice, creating documentation for technically complex systems requirements
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-agency stakeholder workshops and eliciting complex technical requirements
  • Demonstrated experience developing evaluation and selection frameworks
  • Demonstrated understanding nuanced and complex requirements from multi-agency stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience providing authoritative advice and recommendations on system solutions
  • Experience working on projects related to fire behaviour science systems
  • Relevant tertiary qualification desirable but not essential
