We are seeking an experienced Senior Supply Chain Engineer – Mechanical to join our team at ASC in Adelaide, South Australia.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia. As a Senior Supply Chain Engineer – Mechanical, you will play a crucial role in the technical review and quality assessment of suppliers' systems and operations, ensuring the highest standards for the mechanical and materials components of the submarine.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical reviews and quality assessments of suppliers' systems and operations to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Support business processes through active engagement with external markets, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain detailed reports and presentations to assist in supply chain development.
  • Conduct pre-qualification desktop reviews of potential manufacturers and suppliers, evaluating their capabilities and quality control processes.
  • Participate in on-site visits to assess supplier capabilities and quality control processes, documenting findings and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Review and compare equivalent international standards, understanding Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A four-year bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, satisfying membership of Engineers Australia (or equivalent) at MIEAust level.
  • At least seven years' experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in a supply chain or quality assurance role.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with systems and technologies such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, water piping, power piping, hoses, pumps, valves, and actuators.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to develop clear and concise reports and presentations.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Eligibility for Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent status.
