Job Summary

We are seeking a Technical Director to join our Generator Connection Studies Team within the Regulation & Assurance Business Group. This role can be located in Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, or Sydney.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directly influence the commercial performance of the team by ensuring assignments are adequately scoped and priced.
  • Support the development of the generator connection studies business, with a focus on the power sector in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to develop team members focused on generator connections and power systems.
  • Generate reports for clients, network companies, and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO).
  • Work as part of multidisciplinary teams to deliver 'future energy' solutions.
  • Collaborate with international and inter-state branches to deliver a wide range of renewable energy projects.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications and a good academic record in electrical engineering.
  • Significant experience in generator connections and power system analysis, preferably gained in Australia.
  • A desire to mentor and support junior engineers.
  • Ability to work independently on challenging large-scale projects and a consistent record of successful project delivery.
  • Power systems software expertise, including PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and MATLAB.
  • Advanced programming skills in Fortran and Python.
  • Experience in grid forming and virtual grid technologies.
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge of Australian National Electricity Rules and International Standards.
  • Experience in load flow, short circuit analysis, dynamic studies, and EMTP simulations.
  • Understanding of the generator connection process in the NEM.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with clients.
