Database Administrator Job Description

**Job Overview**:

The primary purpose of this role is to design and manage the organisation's SQL databases to ensure secure access and availability in accordance with the needs of the business.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Manage the organisation's SQL database technology
  • Escalate unresolved issues to appropriate vendors and manage these in accordance with agreed service level agreements
  • Provide advice on technical aspects of database and report development
  • Monitor the market to gain knowledge and understanding of currently emerging database technologies
  • Drive continuous improvements and standardisation processes by developing and maintaining database policy and procedures
  • Undertake complex technical investigations to resolve 3rd level engineering issues;

**Key Skills and Qualifications:**

  • Strong experience as a Database Administrator
  • Experience in working with SQL
  • Strategic business acumen and understanding of organisation strategy and ability to design database design to meet the organisation strategy
  • Knowledge of the ITIL framework is mandatory
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
