Early Childhood Educator Role Overview

The Early Childhood Educator plays a pivotal role in a Montessori classroom, serving as a bridge between the Prepared Environment and the children.

This position involves observing children and guiding them through their unique learning process, instilling a lifelong passion for learning.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Fostering strong relationships with children at the service
  • Developing and implementing the Children's Program, aligning with Early Years Learning Framework guidelines
  • Maintaining a safe environment for staff and children by ensuring compliance with OH&S Policy
  • Recording accurate details of accidents, incidents, injuries, illnesses, and medication
  • Embedding the service's philosophy in all aspects of work
  • Liaising with families regarding daily activities and events
  • Tracking individual children's progress, particularly those identified through staff observation

To succeed in this position, applicants must possess:

  • Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or ACECQA equivalent) qualification or be actively pursuing one
  • A current Working with Children Check
  • An understanding of regulations and legislation related to children services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • A comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of the National Quality Framework, including National Regulations, National Quality Standards (NQS), and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
