Microsoft Licensing Expert Job Description

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in Microsoft licensing and a strong understanding of the company's products and services. They will be responsible for analyzing customer requirements and determining the optimal licensing model, as well as addressing licensing-related queries and structuring optimal pricing for proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand a client's business needs and technology landscape to determine the optimal Microsoft licensing model
  • Develop and implement value-add services to customers and internally for CBS, including licensing costs, and provide insights into additional functionality the customer's licenses can leverage without additional cost
  • Work closely with account managers to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing customer accounts
  • Generate reports that can be used by operations teams to track license usage, identify trends, and demonstrate the value of licensing optimization efforts to customers
  • Provide internal training to stakeholders within the client organization regarding Microsoft licensing best practices and key terms, latest changes in Microsoft licensing, products, programs & policies, and the value of optimizing licenses
  • Effectively troubleshoot licensing issues and provide solutions to complex licensing challenges, queries or issues related to provisioning, activation of licenses, renewals, reservations, etc.
  • Engage with customers on a consultative and strategic level in order to develop strategic plans, roadmaps, and initiatives

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in Microsoft licensing across CSP, EA, MCA, and Open Value models
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft cloud solutions (M365, Azure, D365, Power Platform)
  • Ability to prepare quality written correspondence, and internal and external-facing documentation
  • Solid knowledge/understanding of licensing for other software vendors, including VMware, Citrix (desirable)
