About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Youth Support Worker. As a key member of our crisis accommodation program, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to young people who are homeless or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment for residents, promoting a sense of belonging and community.
  • Assist residents in managing their living spaces, including daily cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake and risk assessments for all young people, ensuring their needs are met and their safety is prioritized.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, adhering to legislative standards and guidelines.
  • Develop and implement individualized case management plans, working closely with residents to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Support the living skills program, facilitating group work sessions and activities that promote social inclusion and personal growth.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in social sciences, welfare, or a related field, with a degree qualification preferred.
  • Relevant experience in a social service environment, with a focus on youth homelessness and crisis intervention.
  • Current and valid NSW Working with Children Check, NSW Driver's license, and First Aid Certificate.
  • Knowledge of youth homelessness, crisis intervention, and the ability to collaborate with other program areas.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build effective relationships with clients, based on social work, youth work, and psychologically informed environments.
  • Assessment skills and knowledge of a range of theories, including attachment, trauma, child and adolescent development, and strengths-based approaches.
  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively to critical incidents in a safe manner.
