Job Summary

Seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead and manage the mechanical design office, supporting and mentoring a team of engineers and designers. This is a full-time position requiring Australian citizenship due to defence project requirements.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical design for complex systems, demonstrated leadership or team management experience in an engineering environment, and strong proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD tools) for 3D modeling and mechanical systems design.

This role offers the opportunity to work on high-performance products, drive design reviews, and maintain a hands-on presence when needed—supporting prototyping, fault-finding, and system testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the mechanical design office.
  • Oversee the design and development of mechanical systems including actuator arms, gearboxes, and aircraft structural assemblies.
  • Ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with electronics, avionics, and composite structures.
  • Drive design reviews, design documentation, and continuous improvement practices across the team.
  • Maintain a hands-on presence when needed—supporting prototyping, fault-finding, and system testing.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in mechanical design for complex systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership or team management experience in an engineering environment.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD tools) for 3D modeling and mechanical systems design.
  • Practical knowledge of prototyping, fabrication, and testing of mechanical systems.
Desirable Skills
  • Aerospace engineering background with mechanical design experience.
  • Knowledge of lightweight structural design and materials.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes for precision mechanical components.
