Job Opportunity

We are seeking a Communications Strategist to support the South Coast Region of Queensland.

  • Responsible for leading communications across multiple stakeholders, including media and issues management, crisis communications, risk assessment, reporting, community engagement, and communication strategies.
  • Accountable for developing and implementing crisis and reputation management strategies, identifying key risks involved with departmental actions.
  • Provides advice on communication strategies for difficult stakeholders and critical conversations.
  • Develops stakeholder management strategies and consults with various interest groups.
  • Prepares communication materials, including project collateral, media releases, ministerial briefings, newsletters, flyers, display materials, speech notes, and others.
  • Cordinates community and stakeholder engagement activities for infrastructure projects, providing ongoing strategic communications advice and developing implementation plans.
  • Develops, plans, and manages key communication activities such as road commissioning, launches, media opportunities, and other events.
  • Trains, advises, and supports project staff and consultants to enhance communication skills and improve relationships with stakeholders and the community.
  • Develops and implements communication strategies, activities, procedures, and policies to achieve project objectives.

Key Skills:

  • Degree in communications, public relations, or marketing or equivalent years of work experience.
  • Previous experience dealing with difficult stakeholders and critical conversations.
  • Experience in major infrastructure project environments and social media competency.
  • IAP2 or equivalent training in community engagement and public participation.
  • Knowledge of the infrastructure planning lifecycle.
