Job Overview

This exciting role presents a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the extractives industry. As a Senior Social Impact Specialist, you will play a critical part in shaping and implementing responsible mining approaches that drive effective outcomes across the business.

About the Role

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of external affairs and social performance standards. This will involve:

  • Maturing our approach, systems, performance, and governance in relation to social performance and human rights.
  • Supporting capability development and the rollout and compliance monitoring across the business.

You will also lead the implementation of a Social Performance data management system, facilitating improved data management, analysis, and reporting for functions at sites and Centre office.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the implementation of a comprehensive Social Performance framework, ensuring alignment with international standards and best practices.
  2. Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff knowledge and skills in social performance and human rights.
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address potential social risks and opportunities.
  4. Liaise with site teams to ensure effective data collection, analysis, and reporting on social performance metrics.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Science, International Development, Human Rights, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in the extractive industries.
  • Strong working knowledge of social performance and human rights concepts, including international frameworks such as UNGP's and IFC Standards.
Experience

Prior experience in sustainable development, local content strategies, and community/partnership agreement making is highly regarded. Additionally, you should possess strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
