We're looking for a Specialist Reliability Engineer - Structural to join our team and provide technical support to our Maintenance department by applying Reliability Centred Maintenance principles.
This role will involve driving defect elimination, improvement initiatives, and identifying opportunities to support safe and reliable operations. Establishing and maintaining relationships with the maintenance, production, planning, and engineering teams will be critical to ensuring success in this role.
This position is based at BMA Hay Point Terminal, and we're open to Mackay region applicants only as this site does not provide for FIFO or camp.
Key Accountabilities:
- Safety Leadership: Demonstrate safety leadership by supporting the Field Leadership program to continuously improve safety performance.
- Business Partnerships: Build business partnerships and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
- Reliability Improvements: Support reliability improvements and the elimination of defects in the end-to-end maintenance system, inclusive of defects in parts, procedures, work quality, and processes.
- Performance Analysis: Analyse performance metrics and benchmark performance across the site and other BHP businesses.
- Operating Standards: Support the development of operating standards, procedures, and work instructions (operational and maintenance).
- Equipment Optimisation: Analyse life of equipment to determine equipment capability and optimise maintenance activities.
- Maintenance Strategies: Develop and optimise maintenance strategies that enable plant safety, reliability, and performance to be maximised.
- Capability Development: Develop and increase the capability of the maintenance execution team to drive safety, reliability, efficiency, quality of work, and 'maintenance as a profession'.
- RCA and Improvement Actions: Closely monitor equipment performance in relation to cost, performance, and reliability, complete targeted root cause analysis (RCA), develop and implement subsequent improvement actions, and monitor their effectiveness.
- Coaching and Training: Provide coaching to the maintenance execution team in regard to defect elimination and root cause analysis.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other functions within the organisation, including Maintenance and Engineering Centre of Excellence (MECoE), supply, and production departments.
- Root Cause Analysis: Deliver root cause analysis and 'failure type' reviews.
The Successful Candidate:
- Industry Experience: Mechanical & Reliability industry experience in Maintenance or Degree qualified in Structural Engineering.
- Proven Track Record: Strong proven work experience in a similar role.
- Influencing Stakeholders: Ability to influence, engage, and communicate with stakeholders effectively across all levels of the business, from frontline employees to senior management.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions utilising continuous improvement processes.
- Project Management: Ability to define and manage projects from conception to completion.
- Technical Skills: High-level experience with all Microsoft Office Applications & 1SAP.
- Management of Change: Ability to apply management of change & risk principles.
- Adaptability: Willingness and ability to learn, adapt to change.
- Desirable Qualifications: Experience as a Reliability Engineer or Maintenance Engineer within the mining industry will be highly advantageous.

Salary: We offer a competitive salary range of AU$120,000 - AU$180,000 per annum, plus performance-based bonuses and a best-in-class employee share program.
