Justice Officer Role Overview

The Corrections and Justice Services group plays a crucial part in fostering safer communities, delivering a reliable justice system and community safety framework.

  • You will work collaboratively with a high-performing team within the Victorian Public Service.
  • You will provide guidance and support to prisoners on legislation and policy.
  • You will process new prisoners into the prison and release existing prisoners.

This position requires direct prisoner contact, which may involve weekend and public holiday work. A strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations is essential.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Handle, process, store, and retrieve prisoner property.
  • Provide advice to prisoners and stakeholders on legislation and/or policy regarding appropriate property.
  • Manage records, including processing new prisoners and releasing existing prisoners.
  • Work across multiple streams, including Records/Property, Human Resources, Finance/Stores, and Administration.

A well-developed computer literacy and ability to adapt to new systems are crucial for success in this role.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • You must have well-developed computer literacy.
