Disability Care Specialist

Job Description:

The Disability Care Specialist will provide personalized support to individuals with disabilities, enabling them to achieve their goals and aspirations.

  • Provide person-centered care that ensures the client is at the center of their decision-making process.
  • Assist clients with daily personal activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Monitor and report changes in clients' health and wellbeing to relevant healthcare professionals and management.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and maintain accurate records.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.

Key requirements include a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check, Provide First Aid (HLTAID011), and Provide CPR (HLTAID009). A Certificate III in Individual Support or above is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manual Handling: Assist clients with mobility and transferring, using appropriate lifting techniques.
  • Meal Preparation and Feeding: Assist clients with meal preparation and feeding.
  • Household Tasks: Assist with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
  • Accompaniment: Accompany clients to appointments, social activities, and community events.
  • Behavior Management Strategies: Implement individualized support plans and behavior management strategies.
